WADOO!!NEWS: Police arrest lorry filled with ballot boxes in Ibadan
The Police in Oyo State arrested a lorry conveying ballot boxes around 2A.M in Ibadan on Wednesday. The ballot boxes were said to belong to INEC for the general elections in February.
The arrest of the boxes caused an uproar in the state political circles as politicians were eager to know if the boxes were filled up or empty. At some point, media reports said a certain political party, working with INEC owned the boxes which were filled with thumb printed ballot papers. However, after thorough investigations, the police released the lorry after confirming the boxes belonged to INEC and was meant for the general elections next month. According to a source, “A trailer carrying a 40-feet container with registration number FKJ 285 XN was actually impounded by the police but after a thorough check, it was cleared and released.” The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kayode Ajisebutu, could not confirm the incident. He said he was outside the state and could not reach the Commissioner of Police for information on the ballot boxes.
