First, an American hero joins the cast of Dancing With the Stars and now, Donald Trump and Kanye West may be facing off for the presidency?Just your average day in the good ole U.S.A.!
On Sunday night, Yeezus made waves when he announced at the end of his 13-minute speech while accepting the prestigious Video Vanguard Award that he is running for president in 2020.
So, naturally, Rolling Stone asked Donald Trump about the much-buzzed about moment during a sit-down with the real estate mogul at Trump Tower on Tuesday.
“He’s said very nice things about me in the past… extremely positive things,” the 69-year-old presidential hopeful and quote machine told the publication. In fact, he even credits himself with inspiring West. “I was actually watching, I saw him [announce his candidacy on the VMAs], and I said, ‘That’s very interesting. I wonder who gave him that idea?'”
The business magnate also seemed genuinely surprised by the recent comparisons between himself and ‘Ye (Jimmy Kimmel recently aired a mash-up clip illustrating the similarities between the two).
“I don’t quite get that,” he admitted.
Funnily enough, Trump previously slammed the rapper after his infamous stunt at the 2009 VMAs and called for a boycott of the outspoken musician. But apparently, he’s moved past that incident as he told Rolling Stone that he would love to run against Kim Kardashian‘s mister.”He’s actually a different kind of person than people think. He’s a nice guy,” Trump said of the soon-to-be father of two. “I hope to run against him someday.”
As Rolling Stone pointed out, a market research firm even calculated the results of their hypothetical presidential race and found that Trump would top West.
But seriously, that would be one helluva presidential debate.
