WADOO!!NEWS: See Interactive streetlights bloom like giant flowers when you walk by
Pedestrians in Jerusalem feel quite special when walking through Vallero Square, after all, how else would you feel when a giant flower blooms for you when you walk by?
The Warde project created by HQ Architects, consists of four huge interactive poppies. The installation is part of the city’s efforts to improve the urban space in the heart of the city, bringing life, color and dynamism to a neglected area. The nine by nine meter flowers react to surrounding movement by inflating, as if blooming whenever pedestrians pass by them, and then deflating when they go away.
The giant flowers were carefully positioned so as to be visible from all sides of the square and from the market close-by. In addition to bringing a touch of fantasy to that urban area, the installation also aims to be useful: on sunny days, the flowers provide a bit of shade for pedestrians, and since they are equipped with lamps, they also illuminate the street at night. In addition, the four flowers inflate simultaneously when the tram approaches, thus alerting passengers of their arrival.
